Rooted In Love - Ephesians 3

Ephesians 3 is a powerful reminder that God’s plan was never small or exclusive—it was always expansive, intentional, and grounded in love.

The apostle Paul speaks of a mystery now revealed: that through Jesus Christ, all people are invited into God’s family. This invitation isn’t based on performance, background, or perfection. It is extended purely by grace.

In a world that constantly measures worth by achievement and comparison, Ephesians 3 gently pulls us back to the truth—our value is found in Christ alone.

Strength That Begins Within

As Paul closes the chapter, he offers a prayer that feels just as relevant today as it did centuries ago. He doesn’t pray for ease, success, or comfort. Instead, he prays for inner strength—the kind that comes from being deeply rooted in Christ.

“And I pray that you, being rooted and established in love, may have power, together with all the Lord’s holy people, to grasp how wide and long and high and deep is the love of Christ.”

This love:

  • Reaches farther than our past mistakes

  • Goes deeper than our fears

  • Stands taller than our present circumstances

  • Lasts longer than our doubts

When we are rooted in Christ’s love, we are no longer shaken by every storm. We are anchored in something eternal.

More Than We Can Imagine

Paul ends the chapter with a declaration that invites us to lift our expectations:

“Now to him who is able to do immeasurably more than all we ask or imagine, according to his power that is at work within us.”
— Ephesians 3:20 (NIV)

God’s work in our lives is not limited by our understanding or imagination. Even when we feel stuck, weary, or uncertain, His power is still at work within us.

Ephesians 3 calls us to stop measuring life by what we see and start trusting in a God whose love and ability have no limits.

A Closing Prayer

Lord, help us to be rooted and established in Your love. Strengthen us in our inner being and open our hearts to fully grasp the depth of Christ’s love. Teach us to trust You for more than we can imagine, knowing You are always at work within us. Amen.

When Hope Feels Lost… and Then Finds You Again
