Memorial Day

Image
We are coming into Memorial Day weekend.   For some, this weekend is a time to celebrate the unofficial beginning of summer and for others, it is a time to remember sacrifices made by some so that we can celebrate. Where are you in the mix?  Jesus gave his life to save us from eternal death.  Soldiers gave their lives so that we may live a life with freedoms.   Let’s take time this weekend to give thanks.  Thanks to God for sacrificing his son for our salvation.  Thanks to the Soldiers who laid down their lives for the freedom we enjoy.  Greater love has no one than this, that he lay down his life for his friends. John 15:13

The UNDO Button

As I was working this morning, I caught myself saying “thank God for the undo button”.    Of course, at the moment it was because I had hit the send button without attaching a document that needed to go with an email.   In my day-to-day actives with working on the computer, I find that use the undo and redo button a good bit.   And that got me thinking.   There are a lot of things that cannot be undone but even for those things, there is ONE that will give you a chance to undo them if you ask.    We are given the chance to repent for sins and wrongdoing.   That does not mean there are no consequences for your actions, but that the guilt can be removed, and that is a marvelous feeling.   Through our relationship with God, we can ask for our wrongdoings and sins to be cast away.    You can read about it in Psalms 103.   The LORD is compassionate and merciful, slow to get angry and filled with unfailing love. 9 He wil...

Hello Father

I struggle with praying because I sometimes feel like I am not eloquent enough or maybe I stumble to find the right words at the moment.   And then I remember that it is not what you pray, it's that it comes from your heart.   Not only do I struggle with the wording sometimes, but I also struggle with when and where to pray.  And then I remember, Daniel prayed in a lion's den, Jonah prayed in a whale's belly, and Paul prayed in a dungeon.  So the answer to the when and the where is anytime and anywhere.  Finally, why should we pray?  Simply because God wants to hear from us.   If you are not putting your hand in the hand of God then you are not with him.  By praying in the best of time and the worst of times you are holding on to God.  And he wants us to hold on to him.  He wants to hear from us and he wants to answer our prayers.  Although, that doesn't mean we will always get what we ask for.  ...
