Mustard Seed

  Wow, what a week. By the Grace of God, I am making it through.  I have had to dig several times for that mustard seed of grace to handle a situation and the motivation to keep on digging.  The challenges I have met has tested my confidence, my patience, my faith, and to some degree my love for others and my job. So, at times to get past the impatience, anger, and discouragement I would change the scenery. I would get up from my desk and walk outside and watch the birds or bunnies. One day, I got in the car and went out for lunch which is exceedingly rare for me. The one thing I was slow to do was to give it to God and ask that he give me grace and to find a mustard seed of wisdom on how to best handle myself and the situation. I am a control freak in some ways and I don’t like to loose a battle.  And when I make a mistake, I don’t think anyone could be any more disappointed and upset with me than I am. Good Excuse?

  Last Sunday prior to Bible Study we were all chatting and enjoying fellowship when one lady said, “This is my favorite place to be” She smiled, looked around and the surrounding conversations continued.   Then another lady in the room made the comment “You can’t get people t o come to church anymore”.  If we could only get those people to hear the words, “This is my favorite place to be”.    So, do you go to church and gather with God’s people, or do you make excuses instead? Let us see if I can come up with five good reasons not to go to church Church lasts too long. Too much to do. I don’t feel closer to God after going. Someone hurt my feelings. I can just watch church on TV. Well, I guess you could say all are reasons not to go to church but good reasons?   You could call them excuses.    We all do it from time to time.     But do not let the reasons become a habit of not going.
