A Friend
Do you ever find there’s a whirlwind of emotions swirling inside, each one threatening to burst forth and take control? When I find myself in this place, I strive to keep them locked away, but sometimes they overflow, spilling out unexpectedly. The unfortunate part is that all my pent-up feelings—anger, sadness, and everything else—often end up directed at someone or something totally unrelated to what I'm truly grappling with. I know I should surrender my worries and burdens to God, yet I find that I often (if not always) neglect to do so. I forget to entrust Him with the prayers for those circumstances that lie far beyond my reach.
Where does that leave us? With sleepless nights filled with restlessness, and nightmares that cling to us when we finally do manage to sleep. We find ourselves becoming easily frustrated by the smallest of things. So, why do we allow this to happen? It’s simple: God made us human. Our very DNA compels us to care for everything around us, even the aspects of life that remain entirely out of our control.
What we truly need to focus on is embracing His teachings and placing our anxieties and prayers into His capable hands. A beautiful reminder of this is found in Thomas Mac’s song "I Have A Friend." It serves as a gentle nudge, reaffirming that God is always there for us, offering solace amidst our emotional turmoil.
"Ask, and it will be given to you; seek, and you will find; knock, and it will be opened to you." Matthew 7:7
I am very bad about surrendering my anxiety to Jesus. Thank you for encouraging me. And if you ever need an earthly friend to talk to about your struggles, please don't hesitate to call me or Caroline. We love you.
