Fruit of Life

Today I had the honor of attending an awards ceremony with my teammates Tom Miller and Michael Miller.   We were served Chic Fil A chicken biscuit and a cup of fruit for breakfast.   That cup of fruit revived a memory from when my first husband was so very sick and bedridden.  He required 24-hour care and I was by his side for most of 5 months before his passing.  During that time I was blessed with friends who would come to the house to visit or call and offer to help in any way they could.  One day, Caroline Miller called to check on us.  During our conversation, we discussed how hard it was for me to get out just to get groceries.  She asked me if I could have one thing that I didn’t have what would it be, I replied fruit. I was craving strawberries specifically, but fruit in general.  It was about 2 1/2 hours later Caroline knocked on the door with a huge flat of fruit all beautifully laid out.  I tell you this to tell you just about every time I eat fruit, I remember how kind and generous Tom and Caroline were to me during one of the most difficult times in my life. That tray of fruit makes me remember how special it is to have kind, loving, and caring people in our lives.  I am grateful for what they did for me then and to them for the continued love and support they offer and give to me regularly. That Fruit, the Fruit of the Spirit they shared with me will forever be in my heart.
